Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Caregivers:

It is with joy and enthusiasm that I welcome all families back to the 2023 – 2024 school year at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School!  I am hopeful that this will be another fantastic year of growing together in our school community that has such a rich and strong tradition of faith and education!  During this new school year, we will continue to build on these strengths as we renew our focus on student learning, well-being and faith development.

We will begin our school year honouring and living our fourth and final year of our current HPCDSB spiritual theme, Together on the Journey – Go Forth!  This theme, based on the gospel of the Road to Emmaus, reminds us that when truly encounter Christ in ourselves and others and the world around us, we are transformed and can fully realize who God has created us to be.  We are called to go forth to bring Jesus’ Gospel message of love and hope into our families, communities and the world!

The incredible and gifted staff of the OLMC community will support the growth of each and every community member as they grow in their faith, academic achievement, and well-being as we journey together through this new and exciting school year.    I would like to thank the entire staff of our school community for all of their dedication, effort, skill and compassion that they bring each and every day to our school.

Please know that we are  always here for your children and your family.  Please reach out to me through email at tcakebread@huronperthcatholic.ca  or on the phone at 519-237-3337 if you have any questions or are looking for support.

I look forward to being together on this journey with your children and families this year!

Peace,

Tara Cakebread, Principal

Catholic Education Prayer for  2023 – 2024

God who is love,

Love is our calling, and the goal for which you have made us.

As we celebrate the beginning of our new school year,

may our love in action reveal to our world

that we are people of justice and mercy.

May our daily words and example show clearly

that we are people of faith and hope.

In the ways we reflect you daily,

may everyone recognize us as people of joy.

Help us to never forget how much you love us,

and to cherish your life within us,

which gives energy and direction to our loving.

May we hear your call to love generously and inclusively,

and may we call our world to be more loving also.

All of this we ask in the name of Jesus, our Friend and our Lord.

Amen.
